Recycling Waste

We endeavour to recycle as much of our waste as possible. Recycling is a key component of modern waste disposal as these days there are many different materials which can be used to create new products. These include cardboard, glass, plastic and even the kitchen sink! We are able to recycle a large percentage of waste leaving you guilt free to concentrate on the project at hand.

Hazardous Waste

There are certain materials which are considered hazardous such as vehicle batteries, light bulbs, gas bottles, fridges, freezers, tvs, tyres, paint, fluorescent tubes and asbestos. All of these materials have to be disposed of in a specific way and CANNOT be disposed of in a skip. Also any bottled chemicals or medications are also considered hazardous waste. As these materials need to be disposed of in a specific way we are on hand to offer advice and guidance about disposal. We also have extensive experience in handling trade and commercial waste. Our drivers are fully experienced in the delivery and collection of trade waste disposal. At MCS Skip Hire we offer a large range of skips including Mini Skips. You may have a small project to undertake at home and for this you may require a Mini Skip. Mini Skips are available for both domestic and commercial projects and as they require less space they are ideal if you have limited space available.

Mini skips can also be known as a 3 Yarder and we offer mini skips as part of our service and recommend them for those with a mini project to undertake.

A Mini Skip can hold a surprisingly large amount of waste especially if the waste is compacted sufficiently and large bulky items are broken down in order to prevent space being wasted.  A Mini Skip measures 0.76m (2ft 6in) high, 1.52m (5ft) long and is 1.22m (4ft) wide.

It will hold around 30 bin bags of rubbish and Mini Skips will fit into a small garden or on to a small driveway. They will hold all types of garden waste and household renovation waste.

Mini Skip Permit

As mini skips are the smallest skip available they are perfect if your project and garden or driveway are both small. As with all skips if you do not have space available on private land for your mini skip then a permit from your local authority is required in order to place the mini skip on a public road. Regardless of what skip size you have ordered a standard skip lorry requires a minimum of 3.3m (10ft) width to gain access.

We are able to apply for a mini skip permit on your behalf in most instances and applications take between one and five days to come through depending on the local authority and this should be taken into account when hiring a mini skip. All skips which are sited on the road must have a light and a traffic cone at each end and we are able to provide these for you in most instances. Type of rubbish allowed in a Mini Skip

As with all skips there are regulations governing the type of waste you are able to dispose of in a mini skip. There are certain hazardous materials which should be disposed of in a specific way and NOT in a skip, things such as paint, asbestos, vehicle batteries, gas bottles and fluorescent tubes.
